Saonee Sarker, professor in the Division of Informatics in the College of Economics and Management at Lund College, has been named the following dean of the Virginia Tech Pamplin School of Business enterprise.
Saonee (pronounced Sha-o-nee) Sarker will formally move into her new role on July 1, succeeding Roberta “Robin” Russell, who has served as interim dean considering that July 2022.
“Saonee’s solid educational leadership encounter, worldwide standpoint, and motivation to recruiting and retaining a varied local community of organization faculty is properly aligned with the targets and priorities of the Pamplin School of Organization and the college,” explained Govt Vice President and Provost Cyril Clarke. “I look forward to her joining our leadership staff and supporting her attempts to direct the faculty and advance Virginia Tech’s land-grant mission and world track record.”
Sarker has been a professor in the Section of Informatics in the School of Economics and Management at Lund College because 2021. She is also a traveling to professor in the Department of Administration at the London College of Economics.
Previously, Sarker was at the College of Virginia McIntire Faculty of Commerce from 2013-21, in which she held many roles which includes senior associate dean for tutorial affairs, region coordinator of IT, Rolls Royce Commonwealth Commerce Professor, and professor of IT.
At Washington State College, Sarker’s 11-12 months tenure integrated chair of the Division of Management, Information Methods, and Entrepreneurship George and Carolyn Hubman Distinguished Professor in Administration Information and facts Systems affiliate professor of facts methods and Ph.D. application coordinator.
Sarker provides a prosperity of analysis expertise to the job. She is director of range, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for MIS Quarterly, serving as an ambassador for DEI initiatives and senior editor emeritus for the journal. Sarker attained a bachelor’s diploma from Lady Brabourne School (Calcutta College), an MBA from the College of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. from Washington Point out University.
